These sample questions cover each category of the Career Hunter testing system and provide a brief explanation to that category’s methodology as well as help you to better prepare yourself.

  • Verbal Reasoning

The Verbal Reasoning test is designed to measure your ability to interpret, evaluate and draw logical conclusions from verbal written information.

In this test, you will be presented with at least one passage of text and you will have to answer a series of questions based on the information you are provided with. In most cases, you will be asked to mark statements as either ‘True’ (when the statement is definitely true), ‘False’ (when the statement is definitely false) or ‘Cannot Say’ (when there is insufficient information to provide an answer). The test also includes multi-choice questions where you will have to select the correct answer.

    Example

An advanced computerised filing system has been introduced to the company’s procedures in order to make employees’ lives easier. It replaced the old system which was time-consuming and had a limited storage capacity. Due to this new development, most of the company files are saved electronically and retrieved automatically. Therefore, employees can now handle a bigger workload in less time. Moreover, employees can also connect to the new system from wherever they are as it provides the advantage of remote access. Furthermore, it makes the process of updating records for costs and sales on a daily basis so much easier. However, it is essential that company provides adequate training to all the users of the system, as incorrect use may lead to significant errors.

Mark the following statements as True, False or Cannot Say based always on the information provided in the accompanying passage of text.

The old and new filing systems have the same storage capacity.

    The correct answer is:

False. The text specifically states that new filing system replaced the old one which ‘had a limited storage capacity’.

The company is running training programmes for the new computerised system.

    The correct answer is:

Cannot Say.There is no mention of any traning programmes being offered by the company in the text.

With the new system, employees are able to save valuable time.

    The correct answer is:

Cannot Say.The text mentions that the old filing system was time-consuming.

  • The Numerical Reasoning test assesses your ability to work with numerical and statistical data in order to solve problems, an essential requirement for most job positions.

In the test, you will be using numbers and data presented in different statistical tables in order to answer relevant questions. Each question has five answer options and your task is to identify the correct one. In all cases, only one of the options given is correct.

    Example

Table 1: Percentage of the working population according to the different kinds of transport they use to commute to work.

The price of a one-way train ticket in country D is €0.80. If the population is 37.5 million and 63% of which is employed, what is the total amount actually spent on tickets during a random workday (one way)?

    The correct answer is:

€2,457,000 because 63% of 37.5 million is 23,625,000 employees and 13% of which travel to work by train, ie: 3,071,250. Therefore, 3,071,250 employees travelling by train times €0.80 (the price of a one-way train ticket) equals € 2,457,000.

  • The Abstract Reasoning test assesses your ability to reach logical conclusions based on information presented in the form of abstract shapes. This ability has been demonstrated to relate especially to effectiveness in different IT positions and to strategic thinking.

In the test, you will be presented with a series of shapes that follow a logical sequence with one shape missing. Your task is to select the shape from a number of alternatives that correctly completes the series.

    Example

Which of the following images completes the missing part the one above?

    The correct answer is:

Image 2. The correct sequence is for one shape to be followed by the same shape in a larger size.
